I was asked about mold developing on the inside of the lid after the cream had been filled into a jar. Personally, I never had this happening but there could be several reasons for this:

a) the lid and jar were used and not properly sterilized

b) if the jar and lid were used but properly sterilized, the inside liner could be the cause. I always discard the inside liner after one use and either use the lid without the liner or purchase new liners.

b) the ingredients such as the water had some bacteria in it. If the cream is still warm after filling the jar and then put into the fridge, condense water will collect on the lid and this may cause bacteria build-up.

If you use aluminum jar caps, you probably will not need a liner. If, however, you want to use liners, I found great plastic cap liners that could be used and sterilized. The website is: SKS
